I've been working out with Justin since before the pandemic when we would train in person at the Harvard gym. After the pandemic we have trained twice a week virtually for many years. I decided to continue working with Justin because he has always been able to provide the right guidance for me at whatever stage of fitness development I was in, and even calibrates our workouts based on my energy level that day. He is always on time, works with me to adjust our schedule whenever needed, and is an all around great guy to work with. I HIGHLY recommend Justin (and I do recommend him often) to anyone who wants to work at your own pace but with someone who will challenge you to move beyond where you are today to somewhere better. Prior to working with Justin, I had sessions on and off with a number of personal trainers over the years. Some of them were worried about hurting their clients and so stuck closely to lighter weights, others developed a rigorous work out plan but provided little guidance on the movements. My experience with Justin was entirely different: he understood I was serious about wanting to get stronger, and not only developed an effective program based on progressive overload but - crucially - was dedicated to making sure I was performing the movements effectively and safely. Prior to Justin I was not making much progress in strength after the usual initial gains, and in fact hurt both my shoulders, In the five years I worked with Justin, despite dramatically increasing the weight I could work with, I never suffered an injury. For this I credit his remarkable sensitivity to the small form breaks that signaled I had reached my limits for a given exercise that day. While we concentrated on the classic big moves like squat, deadlift, shoulder and chest presses, his approach included a lot of work on smaller movements designed to train important posture and supporting muscles to improve my ability to not only lift but properly control the weight. Finally, no amount of time in the gym will get you to your goals if you are not activating and focusing the work on the right muscles, and here again Justin's relentless attention to small defects in form was incredibly helpful. Although I had to stop working with Justin when he left my gym, I now feel confident in designing my own progressive work outs, and regularly get compliments on the form he taught me from the personal training staff.
